Design

I’ve been doing design – actual design – since my junior year in high school. Since then, I’ve taken more and more classes and have produced many more products that I’m very proud of. Here are some of my best.

Posters

I spent 3 years as the Graphic Designer for the Kenan Theatre Company and 2 on publicity for Company Carolina, and these are some of my best designs.

Layout

This was a project from my media design class, where we had to create a short, international magazine. You can read more about the assignment, and others I’ve done, on the MEJO 482 page.

Oct. 2019 – The Eagle
This was my first front page design, and I was lucky to have been given perfectly fitting pictures and stories. If I had one critique, I would change the alignment of the top story’s headline to left instead of center.

Oct. 2019 – The Eagle
This is a page that I was very proud of. Neither of the stories was written by staff members, so I was responsible for editing the stories without the contributions of the authors. I had to make the page fit my edits, which was also a difficult task.

May 2020 – The Eagle
This was the front page design for the final edition of The Eagle during my senior year. I like how it includes the graphics but still is readable and draws the eye’s attention.

May 2019 – The Eagle
This was our center spread for the final issue of my junior year. I was assigned the page as another shadowing process, but once the seniors left for exams, I was able to take control and lay out the pages. The graphics were created in a group effort between Kate Carroll (my editor) and me. I can claim the ice cream cones, scoops, cherries, and writing as my creations, and I’m still very proud of this design.

Oct. 2019 – The Eagle
This was a different style of center spread for me, but I’m a big fan of how well it turned out. On this page, I also designed most of the ad in the bottom right corner. The main logo was taken from the shop’s Etsy account, and I added the reviews in an attempt to make the shop more appealing for students. I will definitely create more spreads like this in the future.
