MEJO 121 Other Projects

MEJO 121 – Intro to Digital Storytelling

This class helped me figure out that I’m not completely opposed to working with film or web. We had six major assignments in this class, three being video and three being web. This website was actually one of the assignments, and the MEJO 121 Final Project page was another.

On this specific page, however, I will feature the other four assignments from the class.

MUSIC VIDEO ASSIGNMENT

This assignment was a blast. We were told to pick a song and use archival footage the school provided to create a 45 seconds – 1 minute music video. I chose Fidelity by Regina Spektor and decided to give it light-hearted footage. This was my first experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro, and it helped me get better acquainted with the tools.

FINAL VIDEO ASSIGNMENT

Above is a playlist of the interview footage that I gathered of Cat Babbie in order to make my final video for the class. It’s the raw footage with every question I asked her. It was an exercise to get us, the students, more experience with interviews as well as allow us to get a head-start on the final video project. We were graded on the content of the interview, the angles we used (we had to have at least two), and the background and lighting. There’s not much more content in the interview than in the final project, but it’s an interesting behind-the-scenes view of the final assignment.

FINAL VIDEO ASSIGNMENT

This video is all over my website, but that’s only because it was my midterm assignment and was used in many contexts for the class as a whole. I will say, I’m proud of it as a first journalism-style video assignment. I have definitely found aspects of it that I would like to change. I’m not going to do anything else to this video, but I will gladly learn from my experience.

WEB ASSIGNMENT 1

This is a full screenshot of the website that I coded on my own. I used W3Schools.com as a resource for the HTML and CSS that I didn’t know. It was my first time using HTML or CSS for anything, and I think that I made a good enough website on my own, considering I’ve never coded before. There are some interactive features of it, like the heading (my name), the slideshow, the poem dropdown, and various links.

The website page can be found here or by clicking on the picture above.
