Graphic design is my passion.
MEJO 182 has been a fantastic opportunity for me to explore the field of graphic design through four different projects, teaching me valuable skills for working in the field.
Project 1 – Personal Branding
This intention of this project was to give the students an opportunity to give themselves a brand by creating a logo, business cards, and a letterhead or invoice in Adobe Illustrator.
I created a design for myself, using a color palette that represents my personality and creates a blend of creativity and professionalism to communicate that I am the right person for a job. Below is the product that I turned in.
Project 2 – Event Flyers
The intention of this project was for us to use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to create two connected but unique flyers for a local event.
I chose two separate movie showings at a Drive-In Movie Theater to create promotional flyers for. The movies being shown were Nomadland and Jurassic Park. I created both of my designs in Illustrator, and brought one of them into Photoshop to add details. The unifying elements I stuck to were silhouettes and similar promotional info. Below are the two flyers.

Project 3 – Magazine Layout Design
The intention for this project was to create a 6-page entertainment magazine spread centered around the new Black Widow movie in Adobe InDesign.
We had to create a spread for one main story and at least one other feature, following the design of a well-known entertainment magazine. I chose to follow the themes set by Entertainment Weekly, and it was nice designing for a print publication again, even if it was staged. Below are the three spreads.
Project 4 – Infographic Design
The intention for this project was to create an infographic design about a recent newsworthy topic. We could use Adobe Illustrator, but could use elements from other apps.
I chose to focus my infographic on theatre returning after COVID cancelled it for over a year. It is a topic I’m passionate about, and I was hoping to create a “guide” on how to transition back to normal. I wanted to play around with presenting it as a show Playbill, and I’m very happy with how it turned out.
